About South Kona

Home | Communities | South Kona

Discover the rural charm and laid back atmosphere of  South Kona. The area is ideal for small scale farming — with coffee  and mac nuts being the prized crops.  There is a thriving friendly  spirit in this community.  You will find friends, family and visitors enjoying local talent at the  Aloha theater, or mingling at the weekend farmer market.

The jewel of the south is Kealakekua Bay, a world class marine reserve. On the edge of the bay is the landmark Captain Cook Monument.  A tribute to the Brit that discovered Hawaii and sadly the  spot of his demise.

A little farther down the coast is the famed City Of Refuge in Honaunau.  A National park preserving an even older glimpse into the Hawaii’s past.  A great place for a picnic and a dip in the ocean.

As you go farther south you will find many affordable areas to live.  Explore and discover that this may be the perfect area for you to “go native”..
